PRESS RELEASE: Gifford Announces Q2 Fundraising Haul

Brings in $456,000, fueling grassroots organizing strategy

July 13, 2018

LOWELL—Rufus Gifford, Democratic candidate for Congress in Massachusetts’ 3rd District, today announced fundraising totals for the second quarter of 2018.

From April to June, the campaign raised $386,000. With a $70,000 loan, the total brought in for the second quarter is $456,000. This brings the total amount raised since November 2017 to nearly $1.3 million.

Since launching his campaign in November 2017, Gifford has received nearly 3,000 contributions, including nearly 1,000 in the second quarter. Nearly 70 percent of these contributions have been $100 or less. The campaign has received contributions from 28 of the 37 cities and towns in the district, or three-quarters.

“I am incredibly grateful to all those who contributed and believe in our campaign and what we stand for,” said Gifford. “Thanks to all our supporters, we’re able to run an aggressive grassroots organizing strategy, reaching voters all across the district and building genuine human connections. We’ve made close to half a million phone calls throughout the district, and knocked on nearly 50,000 doors so far. And we’re only now kicking it into gear for these final weeks before the primary.”

Gifford continued: “We’re thrilled with the progress we’re making. We have a plan and we’re executing it, and we feel really great about the next phase of this campaign.”

A more detailed Federal Election Commission (FEC) quarterly report will be filed and made public in the coming days.\
