PRESS RELEASE: Winchendon Leaders Endorse Rufus Gifford for Congress

August 9, 2018

LOWELL—Rufus Gifford, Democratic candidate for Congress in Massachusetts’ 3rd District, today welcomed the endorsement from several civic leaders in Winchendon. They are:

  • Barbara Anderson, 2016-2017 Chair and current Member of the Winchendon Board of Selectman
  • Charles “CJ” Husselbee, Member of the Winchendon Board of Selectmen
  • Danielle LaPointe, former Chair and Vice Chair of Winchendon School Committee; Co-Founder of Stand Up for Toy Town
  • David A. LaPointe, Esquire, former Member of the Winchendon Board of Selectman

They released the following statement: “We are excited to endorse Rufus Gifford for Congress. Rufus has the national experience working for President Obama that is unmatched in this race, and it’s that experience that can deliver results for us in Winchendon and throughout the district, whether it’s creating good-paying jobs, fighting for federal funding for infrastructure, or reining in the cost of health care and housing. He’s also running an optimistic campaign with a positive vision for the future, instead of just focusing on all the negatives in DC. It’s that perspective that we need more of.”

Gifford said the following: “From my first trip to Winchendon in February talking to folks at the Cruisin’ Twelve Diner to recent trips to the Senior Center and the Chili Cook-off, I love spending time in this great town and the great relationships we’ve built. I am thrilled to have the support from Barbara, CJ, Danielle, and David—they are strong civic leaders who will be great additions to our team.”
